Editorial With Feathers

Penelope Haylen walked into this editorial feather shoot with the same confidence and creativity she brings to every session. She showed me this feathered piece she had at home and asked if we could place it on top of a black latex catsuit. I liked the idea immediately. It gave the outfit a theatrical edge without obscuring the latex’s structure.

I chose a location I rarely use, a bright and minimal space that lets the textures speak for themselves. Her experience in front of the camera made the setup easy. She knew how to move so the feathers framed her face and how to let the catsuit catch the light without overposing. Her long hair added another layer of movement, and the overall look created a clean, intentional fashion moment.

She pays attention to detail and understands how to build a concept with what she already has. Even though it was extremely hot that day, she stayed composed, focused, and professional. Heat and latex can be a demanding combination, but she did not let it affect her performance. That level of discipline shows in the images. She held her posture, controlled her expressions, and kept the calm editorial mood we aimed for. It is a pleasure to work with someone who puts in that effort without needing encouragement.

I appreciate models who bring ideas, push themselves, and still keep their cool when conditions are not perfect. Penelope delivered all of that here. This shoot blends her creativity with my direction in a way that feels balanced and sharp.
