A Retrospective With Latex

By bringing in a few decorative elements and carefully chosen accessories, Beth May created the perfect setting to showcase what felt like her dream outfit. From the start, it was clear that this was not just about wearing something visually striking, but about building a complete atmosphere around it. That made the whole shoot feel more intentional, because every detail contributed to a look she genuinely loved and wanted to bring to life.

What I found especially compelling was how she paired that outfit with a black mask that completely covered her face, adding a layer of mystery and control to the styling. Instead of hiding her presence, it actually strengthened it, because the overall impression became more stylized, more self-possessed, and more memorable. For me, that contrast between glamour, concealment, and confidence gave the shoot much of its character.

At the same time, the retro elements inspired by the 1970s gave everything a playful and unmistakable visual identity. There was something bold and theatrical in the way those influences came together, but it never felt forced, only exciting and beautifully coherent.
