Swimming in the Woods

On that hot day in the woods, I worked with Bonny Jumm on a concept that felt simple on the surface yet carried its own tension. Encased in black latex from head to toe, she moved through the clearing with the lake nearby, the sunlight cutting through the trees and reflecting off the material in sharp highlights. The contrast was exactly what I was after: raw nature against controlled gloss, heat against restraint. We shot in the open grass first, letting the late-afternoon light define her shape and posture, then headed down toward the water so she could cool off.

She brings a rare level of devotion. She commits fully to the outfit, the posture, the mood. At the same time, she is not easy to deal with. She has a strong personality, and that can create friction in the process. I do not see that as a weakness. If anything, it keeps me sharp. A smoother dynamic would make production easier. A certain challenge can push the final result further if handled with clarity and respect.

After the swim, we walked back through the woods, the heat finally more bearable. There was a quiet shift in energy, less intensity, more reflection. Looking at the images now, I see more than just latex in nature. I see control in the meeting environment, devotion to meeting independence. Whether that tension reads as harmony or contrast is open to interpretation. For me, it is exactly that edge that makes the series worth discussing.
