Lady in Red & Opera Gloves

Beth May and I found ourselves stuck in the rain, looking for any space that could turn into a workable set. The dressing room of a public bath was not the obvious choice, but the moment we stepped inside, I knew it would work. The tiled walls, the long rows of lockers, the muted light reflecting off every surface created a stark backdrop that made her red dress and glossy black opera gloves stand out with real force. The contrast was dramatic without trying to be, precisely what I wanted for this session.

She stepped into the space with a calm, deliberate presence. The long red gown moved beautifully across the tiles, pooling around her feet and catching the available light in soft, controlled waves. The opera gloves added a strict, polished edge to her posture, giving her a statuesque quality that played well against the everyday character of the location. She started experimenting with the hanging frames on the wall, turning them into props that sharpened the composition and pushed the shoot into a bolder direction.

What made this session work was her willingness to lean into the unexpected. Instead of seeing a changing room, she treated it like a stage, shifting her weight, extending her arm, tilting her head with that quiet confidence she brings into every shoot. We created something striking out of a place most people would overlook. A simple escape from the rain turned into a clean, unique set for latexperiment.
