70's Latex Shoot

The series explores a simple hypothetical: if latex had been a mainstream fashion material in the 1970s, what would it have looked like? The answer Sophie Green and the series arrive at is a pale pink latex catsuit worn barefoot with a white lace short-sleeved overshirt, seated on a white fur square on the grass in her garden, a weathered concrete wall behind her. The combination of the lace and the latex, delicate floral fabric over shiny pink rubber, is what carries the decade reference; it reads like something that could have appeared in a 1970s fashion editorial with very little adjustment.

The outdoor location reinforces the feeling; natural grass, ambient daylight, and an unmanicured garden wall give the series an organic quality that a studio would have worked against. Sophie's styling, soft waves, minimal makeup, a direct but unhurried expression, suits the period mood without being costumed about it.

She is already thinking about the 1980s as a next direction, which is a natural progression; if the 70s concept lands this well, the decade that followed has even more visual material to work with.
