Contemporary Art Ballerina Shoot
The series represents some of the most conceptually ambitious work in Jannina's time on the site: a full black latex enclosure from hood to gloves to feet, a black latex corset cinching the waist, and an eruption of hot pink tutu beneath—the chromatic collision between the two is the entire visual logic of the series. Ballet heels on tiptoe and a horizontal barre overhead complete the ballerina reference, the contrast between classical dance vocabulary and total latex enclosure creating images that sit firmly in contemporary art territory rather than fashion photography.
What Jannina was exploring here was sensory and physical—limited orientation, breathing only through the nose, maintaining balance on ballet heels while fully enclosed. That physical reality gives the series a tension that reads in the images without needing to be explained; the body working hard under conditions most people wouldn't attempt, while the styling remains visually precise and intentional.
The pink tutu against an all-black enclosure is a decision that shouldn't work on paper and does, in practice—the volume and softness of the organza against the sealed, structural latex create exactly the kind of contrast that makes a series memorable.
