Highstyle in Paper

Bella de Rossi02.12.201234 Photos

This shoot with Bella de Rossi finally realized an idea that had been sitting in the pipeline since the calendar work with Alexandra Potter, building an entire concept around torn studio background paper. The rough, jagged edges of the paper spread across the floor and cascaded down the backdrop, giving the whole set a raw, textural quality that felt closer to an art installation than a conventional fashion shoot, with the crisp white sheets creating natural framing around her.

Against this stark, paper-strewn setting, the soft grey knit wrap top played nicely off the black latex leggings underneath, the cozy, tactile fabric contrasting with the latex's sleek surface while both stayed grounded in the same neutral palette as the paper itself. The delicate floral headband added an unexpected softness that balanced the starkness of the scattered paper, giving Bella's expression a calm, almost contemplative quality throughout the session.

The bold pop of color from her lime green and red platform sandals became the single graphic focal point against all that white and grey, drawing the eye straight down to her outstretched, playfully splayed pose. It's a striking example of how a strong environmental concept, built entirely from studio materials rather than props or location, can carry a shoot on its own, finally giving that lingering paper idea the execution it deserved.
