You may have been expecting this moment, but it arrived with a more uncertain edge than anticipated. Ankha van Ayken has now completed her first fully enclosed latex photoshoot, bringing a deeply personal aspect of her style into a public visual setting for the first time.

Until now, the use of a mask had belonged more to her private world, as a way of expressing something inward and personal away from the camera. By introducing that element into a photoshoot, she crossed an important creative boundary and opened a new chapter in how she presents herself.

Whether this direction will continue in public work or move back into a more private space is something she will decide for herself in time. What is already clear, however, is how strongly she feels connected to this form of expression, and that intensity gives the images their real significance.
