Latex Art in Aluminum

This shoot was something I had wanted to do for a while: a full latex art setup built around texture, reflection, and control. Beth May was the right choice for it. The aluminum background created a hard, almost clinical contrast to the deep black latex, and that tension was exactly the point. From behind the camera, it was about precision. Every reflection, every fold, every pose had to earn its place in the frame.

A full mask was never really Beth’s thing, and that was fine. Instead of forcing an idea, we adjusted it. She maintained full visibility, which created more space for expression and movement. That decision changed the rhythm of the shoot for the better. Beth could react, play, and experiment, and that freedom translated directly into stronger images. The latex stayed dominant, but the personality came through clearly.

From another perspective, this session shows that latex art does not have to mean restriction for the sake of concept. It can also be about comfort within the material and enjoying the process. Beth spent the whole day in latex and genuinely had fun with it, and that energy is visible.
