This quick shoot with Catherine Reus was primarily a field test for my newly converted medium format setup, now fully digital. We met up at a public location with a lot of background distractions, which made it a fitting challenge for both the camera and the post-work. Despite the hectic environment, Catherine moved confidently through the set, and I focused on getting a sense of the camera’s rendering, especially of tones and contrast in less-controlled light.
She wore a clean black latex set paired with a beige trench coat, finished with striking platform heels, an outfit that held its visual weight against the cluttered backdrop. The styling had a clear city edge, and I used that tension between modern minimalism and real-world location noise as a reference point for framing and exposure tests. Working with Catherine always adds a sense of ease when you’re focusing more on the gear than the concept.
Post-production became a second phase of the test. I developed a consistent color treatment and utilized masking and cleanup tools to remove everything that wasn’t essential. Once the distractions were gone, the focus landed where it should, on the outfit, the posture, and the rhythm between Catherine’s presence and the camera’s character. It was a solid success for the gear and a satisfying reset for the eyes.
